It only makes sense the 2015 COPO Camaro No. 3 looks as intimidating as it does. If Dale Earnhardt were still alive, and into drag racing, something tells us this one — one of the very first 2015 models that we’ve seen — would be his.
With looks that could kill, this black-on-black model is probably the one we’d choose, as well. Built to do battle in NHRA Stock Eliminator competition, this one features matte black graphics, an LS7 427 engine, ATI Turbo 400 automatic with a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter, a Strange Engineering aluminum center section nine-inch rear with 4.57 gears, and Weld Racing wheels with Hoosier rubber.
The COPO has American Racing Headers two-inch long-tubes with merge collectors as the noise-makers, and an Aeromotive Eliminator fuel pump with an A1000 fuel pressure regulator to feed the beast under the hood.
The 13.0:1 LS7 is rated at 430 horsepower, and features an aluminum block with a Callies Compstar crank and rods, and Mahle 2618 pistons. The camshaft is a Chevrolet Performance .630-inch lift steel billet hydraulic roller, while the heads feature a 280cc port volume, beehive valve springs, Del West titanium intake valves, and sodium-filled exhaust valves. Valve sizes are 2.20×1.61, intake and exhaust, respectively.
The LS7 intake is a Chevrolet Performance/Holley “Hi Ram” with a Whipple billet aluminum 90mm throttle body, and 58 lb/hr high-impedence injectors. This one doesn’t have the optional wheelie bars.
This 2015 COPO Camaro is one of the first ones we’ve seen available, and it’s available at Hubbard Auto Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. We’ll race you there.
