Taking The Heat: ACCEL’s 9000 Series Ceramic Boot Plug Wires

Proper spark delivery is the hallmark of a good plug wire, but that spark is useless if the wire is damaged after being burnt by your car’s exhaust. ACCEL has developed a high-performance solution that can deliver the spark you need and provide some serious heat protection with their 9000 Series Ceramic Boot Plug Wires. These new plug wires are designed to take the heat and deliver the spark for short trips around town or long freeway journeys in the most demanding of conditions.

After helping customers for years with their ignition needs, ACCEL saw a great opportunity to solve the problem of plug wires getting burnt when space was limited under the hood, according to Keith Jessee. “We decided to take a stab at eliminating the age-old issue of burning spark plug boots on aftermarket headers, tight fitting exhaust manifolds, and other heat sources. We thought, why not make the spark plug boot out of the same material the spark plug is made out of?”

The 8 mm 9000 Series plug wires have a strong 500 Ohms resistance that assists them in delivering the highest levels of spark energy to the plugs in the motor. The double silicone construction and ceramic boots are heat resistant up to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit for maximum protection. The 9000 Series wires are available for most major V-8 Ford, Chevy, and Dodge engines, along with other four and six cylinder engines.

According to Jessee, these wires can be used in many different applications where the user wants to see performance gains.

“The main advantage of these wires is obviously the heat resistance, which increases the life of the plug wires. The plug wire is also an improvement over an OEM spark plug wire in that it delivers more spark energy with less resistance,” Jessee says.
