A first-year F-body bringing $75,000 at a high caliber auction like Barrett-Jackson is nothing new. But one of the best stories to come out of the early days from the 2014 Scottsdale auction was this stunning ’67 Camaro that sold for $75,000 on Tuesday evening. 16 year-old Chase Harris envisioned the building and selling of this Camaro when he learned fellow classmate Danielle Hudson was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

Chase felt moved to help in a very unique way. Chase decided to restore this ’67 Camaro to raise awareness and funds by selling it at an auction. “Even though Danielle was not a car person, she was very excited about the idea,” Chase told ABC 15.

162896_Engine_WebSadly just ten months later Danielle passed away, she was only 15. Chase still driven, honored his commitment and formed Classics for a Cause and with the help of Heath Elmer Restorations finished the ’67 Camaro in time to watch it sell for $75,000. The $75,000 will be donated to the Phoenix Children’s hospital for neuro-oncology research.

As far as the Camaro is concerned,  the restoration started with a 100% rust free Arizona body with all GM panels. From there it was slammed with a LS 376 E-rod GM crate that twists out 430hp. From there power travels through a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual transmission to a GM 12-bolt with 3.73 posi-traction differential.

Here are some other stats on this impressive first generation F-body:

  • 50 state emissions legal
  • Spin Tech mufflers and a 3″ mandrel bent exhaust
  • Baer 6-piston brakes
  • full RideTech coilover suspension with a 4-bar rear.
  • Aeromotive tank and pump. The vehicle also features a
  • Vintage Air system
  • Budnik 18″ wheels
  • DuPont paint
  • OE seats and interior

Our hats go off to Chase, finishing any project car is a major accomplishment. However to finish a project like this not only reveals the determination of a young man but also his character. Well done Chase, we can’t wait to see what your next build is like.
