The ’69 Camaro is amongst the most legendary vehicles in existence– if not the most legendary. There are so many amazing ’69 Camaro builds these days, it seems like there are none that aren’t in the hands of owners that haven’t immaculately restored them or built them into something even more incredible. With that being said, because they are so popular and sought after, it seems it is hard to find one that really stands out from the rest.
The goal and plan for Under Pressure was to build a ’69 Camaro like no other.
Every year at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, multiple builders from all over the world enter their vehicles in a “Battle of the Builders” competition in hopes to be crowned the year’s ultimate builder. With over 1,500 different cars and trucks to choose from, this is no easy task for the selected judges. As tough as the competition can be, the Battle of the Builders competition has to come to an end and, this year, the vehicle taking home the crown is none other than this gorgeous 1969 Camaro “Under Pressure” built by HS Customs.
“The goal and plan for Under Pressure was to build a ’69 Camaro like no other,” said Cam Miller, owner of HS Customs and builder of Under Pressure. “Trying to be different, innovative, and creative yet maintain the ’69 Camaro’s iconic lines and look. There are so many awesome examples of ’69 Camaro’s in this world making this build a big challenge.”
Unlike the majority of the Camaro builds, this one stood out. Not in an overbearing way, but in a refreshing, nicely-executed way. There’s no doubt that some of the body work is over-the-top, but HS Customs somehow managed to keep that classic Camaro look we all love alive. The white paint is accented by grey and gold pieces throughout the car, all the way to the shiny gold custom wheels and Wilwood brakes. This beast holds an even more beastly powerhouse under the hood– a twin turbo 427 ci LSX motor. The attention to detail is clear from every angle; from the interior, under the hood, under the body, and all the way from the front to rear bumper. The interior sports sheet metal and aluminum panels, leather Corbeau seats, custom Dakota Digital gauges, and even a paint-matched steering wheel.
“Winning Battle of the Builders means so many things for us at HS Customs. What an honor to not only be a part of the SEMA show but to even have the opportunity to compete for such a prestigious award,” said Cam. “All of the builders are influences in my life from the big guys of whom I have magazines and posters of there stuff to the guys I just met– just a great group of people. It’s cool to be a part of an event that recognizes the art form of the custom automotive industry and the artist that create.
