SLP, a long time supplier of high performance exhaust systems and other components has announced a new conversion package for Camaro owners that want 427 cui power in their contemporary Camaro Convertible.
At the heart of the transformation isthe SLP custom built, 427 cui engine with aluminum block and cylinder heads. With a TVS 2300 Supercharger with 10 PSI boost feeding the 10.3:1 compression ratio engine, output is said to be in the 750 horsepower range. Using an SLP non-adjustable PCM custom tune, the speed limiter increased to 205 MPH, which is the estimated top speed of the car.
To support the vastly increased power, additional equipment upgrades abound throughout the car. The driveline benefits from a new ZR-1 clutch assembly and SLP flywheel, along with SLP heavy-duty half shafts at the back end.
SLP forged light-weight 9×20-inch front wheels and 10.5 x 20-inch rear wheels replace the factory originals, as do the Michelin XL Sport PS2, sized 255/40ZR20 in the front and 295/35ZR20 for the rear tires.
Brembo GT front and GT rear brakes with 2-piece 16-inch front rotors running 6 piston calipers and 15-inch rear rotors with 4-piston calipers add plenty to the stopping power, while SLP’s adjustable coilovers and sway bars work to keep the rubber and the road together.
There’s plenty on the outside to distinguish the SLP ZL1 camaro from your garden variety drop top. The SLP front fascia with unique grille assembly and SLP ZL all carbon fiber hood dominate the front view, while a host of carbon fiber finish additions will be found at the rear. These include the high lip rear spoiler, trunk lid and rear diffuser.
Special exterior badging and interior enhancements extend the uniqueness of their ZL1 convertible, which Edmund’s Inside line recently got their hands on. Check out the video at the bottom for their performance testing and results.
