Well, it’s been three weeks or so since Camaro5.com’s Camaro5 Fest II event wrapped up and we’re still hearing about it from all corners. Talk about a successful get together! In this case, we’ve got a bevy of Vortech supercharged Camaros that brought some big numbers along with them.
The Vortech folks were there, along with their local representative, Rocky Mountain Competitive Research (RMCR), a Top Tier Dealer/Installer out of Colorado Springs, CO.
RMCR put together an impressive Vortech Centrifugal System on a display engine to really give the Festers a good look at what the kit looks like up close and personal. It helped to show how the Vortech intercooler is over twice the size of what their competitors use.
The silver Camaro SS you can see right next to the display engine was a real sleeper. The visually unmolested SS sports an RMCR-built LSX 427 engine with Callies internals, Diamond pistons, CNC-ported heads, custom camshaft, FAST 102mm intake manifold, Nick Williams 102mm throttle body and Katech carbon valve covers.
The car features Stainless Works 2-inch headers and 3-inch exhaust, a Fore Precision triple 255 LPHpump setup, BMR subframes, sway bars, trailing arms, toe rods, strut tower brace, KW coilovers, AP Racing J-hook brake rotors, a DSS 9-inch rearend conversion with Moser aluminum center section, and to complete the project appropriately, a cog-driven Vortech V-7 YSi-Trim Supercharging System.
Apparently, the guys from RMCR didn’t quite finish tuning it before they had to leave for the event, but it still wore a dyno sheet showing it put down over 919 RWHP through its heavy duty 9-inch rear end. That’s nearly 1,100 horsepower at the crank. Yes sir, there’s no replacement for displacement… with boost, of course.
Dave Christensen showed up with his customized Inferno Orange Metallic SS took every opportunity to participate in the show. When he wasn’t racing on the track, Dave was showing off his V-3 Si-Trim Supercharged ride in the car show area. Apparently, Dave also won the prize for Best Exterior, which also carries through under the hood. Vortech’s V-3 Si-Trim supercharger boosts stock vehicles to 625 HP, while YSi-Trim tuner kits are available for up to 1200 HP on suitably modified vehicles.
Camaro5 Fest 2 organizer, Guillermo Garcia, brought his Vortech V-3 Supercharged black Camaro SS, but couldn’t take much time to stand around answering questions. Wherever you saw a blur during the event, that was likely him looking after something to make it the best experience possible for all that attended.
