Imagine… A mile and a half all to yourself. No speed limit, no fear of cops, just pure adrenaline– the performance junky’s dream. And if you need more persuading than the video of last year’s action above, then you just won’t ever be convinced.

Every year since 2003, enthusiasts from all over the world have flocked to the small town of Beeville, Texas to get their speed fix on one of the most popular one-mile tracks in the world.

The Texas Mile is now a bi-annual event, drawing an average of 250 participants, plus spectators, every six months. It caught our eye when we noticed the dozens upon dozens of amazing cars already on the registration list. There’s plenty of variety, from bikes to every type of street car and racecar you can imagine.

From morning to night, participants push their vehicles to the limit down this one and half mile long airport runway to attempt to set state records, join the Texas 200+ mph club, and compete for the “best in class” award. Spectators can enjoy on-site concessions and constant entertainment all while sporting a golf cart rental, making it much easier to cover the vastness of this event’s location. Sounds pretty awesome, right?!
