The Barrett-Jackson auctions bring some of the rarest, coolest and most collectable cars in the world to auction blocks across the country. The upcoming Scottsdale Auction next week is shaping up to be no different, but there is one car in particular that has caught our attention more than usual – a Camaro designed by Steve Saleen and Bob Bondurant. As Motor Authority reports, the auction of this car is not only a unique opportunity for car collectors but also a way to start 2012 by giving back to charity.
The SMS-Bondurant Camaro comes straight from the heart of performance. As the collaborative creation of Saleen, the retired race car driver who is behind such cars as the Saleen Mustang and the Saleen S7, and Bondurant, the retired race car driver who owns one of the most well-known performance driving schools and tracks in the country, this Camaro is nothing less than performance-packed.
To start things off, the Camaro is equipped with a SMS supercharger atop the already potent 6.2L Chevy V8 engine that is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The combination pushes 620 horsepower and 570 foot-pounds of torque. Other unique features on the car include a Borla exhaust system, Eibach S suspension, “Red Butterfly” hood and custom SMS 20-inch wheels. To top things off, both Saleen and Bondurant’s signatures appear on the dash.
The SMS-Bondurant Camaro will be auctioned off on January 19th at approximately 8 PM with no reserve. The proceeds of the sale will go to the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Arizona, which makes wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses, and COX Charities, an organization that gives grants to youth educational programs.
The SMS-Bondurant Camaro has yet to be revealed, so make sure to tune into the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction on January 19th to see this unique Camaro cross the auction block.
