Bringing a supercar to market is a daunting task and one that takes time – plenty of it. Still, that doesn’t keep us from wishing it weren’t so. For a few lucky souls in the media world, the timeline to a ride in John Hennessey’s Venom GT got shortened to zero recently.

The Venom GT, as you may recall, has some pretty fantastic specifications along with performance that has left other supercars panting at the side of the road. Well, when you drop 1,200 twin-turbo LS9 horsepower into a car that weighs just under 2700 pounds, for sure there’s some magic gonna happen.

And so it was for Matt Hardigree over at Jalopnik, who summed up his experience by saying,”This isn’t a car, man, this is the best way to die.” The right seat experience was sufficient to have Hardigree plotting any means necessary to get into the other seat. If he did manage to pull it off, he wasn’t saying.

Road & Track staff got to have their way with the Venom GT at Nevada’s Spring Mountain Motorsports Park, and in their February, 2011 issue mention, “If seat of the pants validation counts for anything, he’s built the most formidable supercar in America, and possibly the world.”

Destined for very limited production – ten per year maximum and 29 units total – the Venom GT is going to be a very exclusive piece of work. Only three cars have been publicly shown so far. The first was sold to a rich (and impatient) soul in the Middle East. The second car (silver) has been used for much of the development work. The third car, shown here, has been doing road testing in the UK and you can check out the videos below for some of that work. When it comes to traveling at warp speed, this is the closest you can get without leaving Earth.
