In this week’s installment of “Wide-World-Of-LSX” we bring you this video from YouTube featuring the “Crawlmaro” rock crawler in action. The video is shot at Superlift Off-Road Vehicle Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas. As you will remember from our event coverage, we first became acquainted with this 5th-gen-skinned off road buggy at LS Fest, were we found it displayed at the Holley tent. We were so impressed with the detail of this crawler that we just had to snap some pics.
Now, the idea of taking a Camaro and turning it into a 4×4 off-roading monster truck isn’t really new, and in fact it seems to be pretty popular. Just a quick search for “4×4 Camaro” on YouTube returns over 2,000 videos. But the Crawlmaro isn’t just a piece of back yard engineering. This thing is a purpose built rock crawler with some awesome off-roading goodies. The Crawlmaro is reportedly built by Essentially Off Road out of Murfreesburo, Tennesse, and makes pretty short work of the hills at Superlift thanks to a turbocharged LSX, run by Holley’s Dominator EFI. The Camaro-skinned Magnum Chassis rides on monster 42-inch Goodyear competition tires.
The turbo LS’ combination of off-boost torque and spooled up horsepower makes it a perfect choice for the demands of climbing boulder piles you’d be hard-pressed to navigate on hands and knees. Check out the video and we’re sure you’ll see just what we mean.
