The Suzuki GSX-R 600’s 599 cc (36.6 cubic inches) 4-stroke inline 4-cylinder makes around 100 horsepower at a screaming 13,000 RPM. Not too bad for something with a curb weight of a little over 400 pounds. With that kind of power-to-weight ratio, the GSX-R is capable of running low 11’s right off the showroom floor, and in the right hands they can even dip into the high 10’s.
However, all of that and the Suzuki street bike just can’t handle a ProCharged 4th Gen Camaro. In this video we found on YouTube, we get a look at four races between a GSX-R 600 and an LS1 Camaro SS with a stock bottom end and 3.73 rear gears, and of course, the mighty ProCharger. (Video NSFW due to music, so you might want to turn your sound down if you’re watching in the cubicle farm). On each of the runs, the Suzuki jumps out hard on the Camaro, but just can’t quite manage to pull away. In the end, the Camaro is always able to reel in the sport bike, and keep steadily walking away.
The runs are filmed from a roll, and we can’t help but wonder if things might be different from a dig on an actual drag strip. Do you think that the sport bike could get the jump on the Camaro and hold it until the finish line, or would the Camaro’s torque prove superior? Let us know what you think.
