Sometimes we find that the best info comes not from an industry expert or a YouTube channel, but as a collection of information from our very own readers. After all, who would know about all things Corvette better than the men and women that own them?
We decided to put a couple of posts on our Facebook page asking our followers what their favorite methods are for keeping their Corvettes in good running condition. We understand that a lot of folks just leave the maintenance to the professionals and just prefer to give them an occasional wash and wax.
We did however receive a few good bits of advice, and some great pictures of our reader’s rides.
- Richard Caneer posted, “I have a 2012 red Grand Sport with 6,000 miles on, it hasn’t been wet since I’ve owned it.”
- Jasion Lutterman said, “Use two wash buckets, never rinse the sponge in the soap bucket.”
- George Silva suggested, “AMSOIL from front to back!”
- Brent Sancer said he prefers, “Fuel stabilizer and about 5,000 miles per year.”
Last but not least was a remark left by Corvette Pacifica who suggested, ” Move to California…” While the majority of our readers live in one of the other 49 beautiful states or beyond, we certainly can’t argue as Corvette Online happens to be located in Southern California.
While our climate may be rather “car friendly,” we still have plenty of dirt, intense sunlight, and maintenance to contend with. The rituals and cleaning habits of Corvette owners may differ and we say, “Just keep doing what works best for you.” After all, we are all brought together by a common love for America’s sports car and that’s what really matters.
For those who are forced to put their beloved Vettes into storage throughout the winter months, stay tuned for a full feature on storage and recommendations before getting back on the road.
