SEMA 2014: C&R Racing Keeps Your Engine Cool When it Counts

_MG_8587When adding horsepower, or simply running a high performance vehicle of today, it isn’t uncommon to have a vehicle that gets a bit hot when placed under stress for a number of reasons. That being said, C&R Racing has the technology to keep your car cool when it counts.

We were fortunate enough to speak with Paul Hammond who showed us a few new products. To start, Paul said, “We have our LS9 intercooler that bolts in like a factory replacement, as the factory units are breaking under high boost pressures, which ultimately causes the motors to hydrolock when the coolant enters the cylinders. We CNCed the end caps, and created a stronger more efficient core, to the point that we are getting IATs (Intake Air Temperatures) of 30 to 40 degrees lower than stock. This in turn allows for more timing and ultimately higher horsepower and torque output. These are now available, and currently shipping.”

Paul continued, “We have recently started looking into building a radiator for both the C7 Stingray and the upcoming C7 Z06, and we will ideally be doing it with CAD data to significantly increase cooling efficiency compared to the stock unit. We’ve also been looking into what we can do for both transmission temps as well as oil to help combat the increasing temperatures.”

Aside from the intercoolers and radiators previously discussed, C&R builds rear-end sets, billet fittings, and heat exchangers that can really help maintain your car’s performance and even increase it by stopping power degradation due to heat soak.
