Tallahassee, Florida-based company Trans Am Worldwide has just pulled the covers off of its latest re-creation of an iconic muscle car, the 70/SS. Designed by a team of enthusiasts to embody all the muscle car goodness GM created in the 1970 Chevelle Super Sport, the new 70/SS brings back those classic body cues with modern amenities and horsepower.
Modern Materials Meet Chevelle’s Heritage
Each 70/SS is custom-built by Trans Am Worldwide using modern carbon-fiber body materials. That all-carbon body can be painted in a variety of colors including a “Heritage Line,” which re-creates those iconic colors originally offered on a 1970 Chevelle. Those Heritage colors combine with an offering of modern, tri-stage colors to give the enthusiast over 20 available color options when designing their 70/SS.
The base model 70/SS begins where GM left off with the 1970 LS6 (454) Chevelle, bringing 450 horsepower on tap. There is also an optional 675 horsepower version featuring a Magnuson 2600 supercharger, headers, and a complete performance exhaust system. Each 70/SS also features that iconic cowl induction hood and rally stripes for that vintage view out through the windshield. Under the hood, performance can be boosted well above what was offered by General Motors in any Chevelle with either the 396 Heritage Model or the 454 LS6X Limited Edition.
The 396 Heritage Model has two performance levels including an 800-horsepower supercharged engine or a 900-horsepower monster utilizing twin turbos. In true limited-edition fashion, the top-of-the-line 454 LS6X variant will be kept to only 25 units produced, but there will be three different levels of street domination from which to choose!
Starting at 900 rear-wheel horsepower, customers who select the 454 LS6X option can increase that number to either 1,000, or an incredible 1,500 rear-wheel horsepower thanks to its custom-built, twin-turbo powerhouse. To help the chassis cope with all the additional output, each limited-edition car will also include an upgraded suspension, upgraded axles, heavy-duty rear differential, and oversized brakes as standard on the 1,500 horsepower models.
Iconic Interior
The interior of each 70/SS offers a broad range of leather interior options reminiscent of the 1970 Chevelle Super Sport. Enthusiasts can choose from either the Heritage Shifter for auto-transmission cars or the iconic Hurst stick for manual gear-grabbing.
Sporting the retro theme is a set of leather seats, a retro-styled gauge cluster, custom floor mats, and 70/SS aluminum sill plates. Custom door panel inserts and steering wheel serve to remind you that even steeped in Chevelle’s heritage, the 70/SS is a modern marvel featuring all of today’s amenities!
