We’ve been keeping our fingers on the pulse of GM for you, tracking their every move with the new 2016 Camaro. We have brought you everything that’s been available at this point, and now we are bringing you the 2016 Camaro with a little less camouflage from Camaro6. The original photos showed the funky black camo, which fits on the car loosely and tries its best to disguise what’s underneath.
Now that it has been removed, we only see a black and white camouflage, which reveals some of the lines. While we are definitely excited, at first glance we thought: the nose sure does resemble the fourth generation (2004-2006) Pontiac GTO. Mainly we see that in the headlights, as they have gone from looking a lot like a ’69 Camaro, to squished down into a very modern looking headlight. We like it, but it does remind us of a GTO. Judging by the headlights and taillights, Chevy didn’t install the final design on this car, trying to fool us a bit.
As for the rest of car, the grill below the bumper has definitely grown in size, just like the previous renderings show. The side profile pictures do show what looks like a slightly longer wheelbase, and the front and rear overhangs have shrunk. This new 2016 Camaro is rumored to be on a new platform, the same one as the Cadillac ATS. Unfortunately the pictures don’t show any of the undercarriage where we could confirm that.
Overall, the new Camaro looks very sharp, and modern-just like a modern muscle car should. Even though it’s being toted as the sixth generation, it keeps the amazing looks from the fifth generation, and we love it! We can’t wait to see the full car in final form!
