The 2010-11 Camaro was built to give enthusiasts a new muscle car to add to their fleet. While it is definitely a street car, all that horsepower from the 6.2 liter V8 can only truly be utilized on the race track. Today’s muscle cars aren’t just straight-line monsters either; they can be built and tuned for any track, no matter how many twists there might be.
Case in point; Pfadt Race Engineering, headquartered within a stone’s throw of the infamous Nurburgring in Germany, is currently putting together a 2011 Camaro, according to a post on Camaro5. It is set to race in the FIA GT race series sometime next year (most likely in the GT3 class versus cars like the 911 GT3, Audi R8 LMS, and of course the Z06), and we can’t wait to see it unleashed.
Details are scarce right now, as we’re sure some trade secrets must be concealed to keep the competition in the dark. Judging on looks alone, the widebody kit they are putting on the cars appears to be the “Hot Wheels” kit. It is low and wide, for sure, which should translate well in the real world race track.
This Camaro is actually being built by Fast Forward Motorsports in Belgium, using Pfadt parts. Looking through the pictures, we can see upgraded shocks and A-arms at the very least. Then there is that serious-looking roll cage, and the engine pictures show at the bare minimum an upgraded clutch being added (though we doubt that is where it ends). We’re certain that plenty more is going into this serious race car, and as details filter in, we’ll be sure to share them with you.
In the meantime, make sure you check out the Camaro5 thread for a lot more pictures.
